This is a cold mechanical process that produces permanent, controlled deformation of a metal element: the outer side of the bend stretches, while the inner side compresses. For this reason, every bend requires strict control of parameters such as springback, the material's minimum bend radius and sheet thickness, in order to ensure precise, repeatable angles that comply with the technical drawing.
At Officine Tironi, bending is one of the core processes of our metal fabrication: we carry it out in-house, in synergy with laser cutting and welding, to ensure production continuity, fast lead times and maximum quality on every order.
Technology, automation and in-house technical department
Our in-house technical department uses CAD/CAM software and 3D simulation systems to analyse and optimise every bending project before production even begins: this allows us to predict sheet metal behaviour (springback, bend sequence, tool-to-part interference), reducing material waste and set-up times.
